Ferrari might be a relatively “small” automaker but they are always on the move. They’ve recently announced that they will return to the hypercar class of Le Mans. They have also hinted that they will introduce three new models in 2021. Above all, however, Ferrari has confirmed that a fully electric vehicle is only a few years away.
Ferrari chairman and interim CEO, John Elkann, made the announcement at a recent shareholders’ meeting. While PHEVs are already on offer from Ferrari, and more is to come, this will be the first full EV produced from Maranello.
“We are very excited about our first all-electric Ferrari that we plan to unveil in 2025,” Elkann told shareholders as reported by Car Magazine. “You can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history.
“We are continuing to execute our electrification strategy in a highly disciplined way.” Elkann added: ‘Our interpretation of these technologies both in motorsport and in road cars is a huge opportunity to bring the uniqueness and passion of Ferrari to new generations.”
This EV will probably be a hypercar and not an SUV. We’ll find out more over the coming months and years.
