The launch will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The second generation of the Fiat 500e has been on the market in Europe since 2020.
American specifications have yet to be announced.
Fiat currently only sells one model in North America, the 500x sub-compact crossover, but this could soon change.
The Italian brand plans to add the electric 500e to its lineup in the United States and Canada, marking a return of the city car after it exited the continent back in 2019.
Since then, the Fiat 500 dropped its gasoline-powered variant and an all-new generation of the electric 500e arrived in Europe at the beginning of 2020.
Of course, the new model is very similar in appearance to the previous generation introduced in 2007 since both of these models build upon the heritage of the original Fiat 500 of the 50s.
Despite that, the new model is distinguished by different headlamps and taillamps, and a modernized front-end treatment. Inside, the most obvious differences are related to the two digital screens that serve as the instrument cluster and the infotainment system.
The North American version is expected to receive a few small changes in order to comply with local regulations as well as to increase its appeal to potential buyers.
These changes will be announced as soon as tomorrow during the Los Angeles Auto Show, but Fiat has nonetheless released a few teaser images that show a closeup of the car’s lights, mirrors, and touchscreen.
In Europe, the 500e is offered with a choice of a 24 kWh or a 42 kWh battery pack that allows it to travel up to 185 kilometres or 320 kilometres on a charge respectively. Since these figures are based on the WLTP cycle, the official EPA numbers for the North American models are expected to be lower, which could convince Fiat to offer only the larger battery on this side of the Atlantic.
Both versions are powered by a single electric motor that delivers 117 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels, and this is likely to also be true in the US and Canada.
Drivers who are interested in the 500e but would like more power will be happy to know that Fiat is currently working on a sportier Abarth version of the electric city car, which could also be imported to North America in the coming years.
