Infiniti want to bring back the FX spirit with the Infiniti QX65 Monograph Concept

Infiniti has unveiled the QX65 Monograph, a bold sportback SUV concept that pushes its Artistry in Motion design philosophy into the two-row, midsize luxury segment.

  • The QX65 will be heavily built from the QX60

  • The production version will be present later this year

Revealed at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, this latest design statement blends daring proportions, elevated craftsmanship, and heritage cues inspired by the pioneering Infiniti FX,  signalling the brand’s intent for a confident, performance-driven future.

The QX65 Monograph pairs an athletic fastback silhouette with powerful, muscular stance. It’s the latest showcase in the brand’s ongoing product renaissance, embodying both a nod to the past and a leap toward Infiniti’s next era.

“QX65 Monograph has extraordinary character, combining inspiration from our innovative FX coupe SUV with Artistry in Motion design principles to create a stylish two-row that proudly stands apart in the crowded midsize luxury space,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice-president for Global Design. “It’s sculpted with an underlying sense of speed and elegance, paired with strong, confident proportions, all led by the fastback roof silhouette that defies expectations.”

“QX65 Monograph is more than a concept — it’s a signal that Infiniti is moving decisively into its next era,” added Tiago Castro, vice-president, Infiniti Americas. “It builds on our legacy of innovation, advances our design language, and confirms we’re expanding our portfolio with purpose.”

Modern Fastback Form

The defining feature of the QX65 Monograph is its dramatic fastback roofline, arcing gracefully over the cabin before tapering sharply toward the rear. This fluid profile, central to Artistry in Motion, gives the concept an immediate sense of speed. Robust lower-body sculpting and emphatic fenders balance the sleek upper section, while wheels pushed to the far corners provide a dynamic, planted stance. Horizontal theme lines across the body enhance its wide posture, distinguishing it from the more vertical proportions of other Infiniti SUVs.

Twilight Finish, A New Colour Experience

Debuting a new, colour-shifting “Twilight” satin paint, the QX65 Monograph captures the red and gold tones of dusk. Evolving from the Akane finish seen on the QX80 Monograph, this hue transitions from a reddish-purple in low light to shimmering gold under direct sun, thanks to a complex multi-layer process. Gloss black roof rails and wheels, along with bronze accents outlining the roof arch and grille, create striking contrasts against the shifting body colour.

Distinctive New Design Details

From the front, the QX65 Monograph projects a bolder, sportier presence. The grille retains Infiniti’s signature bamboo-forest inspiration but now features a more turbulent, storm-swept texture, framed by an illuminated three-dimensional emblem. Above it, digital piano key lighting spans nearly the full width, creating a wide, confident look and delivering a choreographed light show that embodies the Japanese aesthetic of Kabuku — the extraordinary.

Its 22-inch multi-layer twisted-spoke wheels continue the speed-inspired theme, while at the rear, three-dimensional LED taillights take cues from jet aircraft tailfins, extending outward for added depth and visual intrigue. The rest of the rear remains smooth and minimalist, reinforcing the seamless sculpted form that defines the concept.
