It’s March and Subaru is Already Sold Out on Three Models for the Year.

Parts shortages are still affecting production numbers to a point where Subaru is limiting outputs

  • The all-new all-electric Solterra is sold out, which is expected.

  • The same goes for the new BRZ.

  • But the Impreza?

The root cause behind this news story is an old story. The global chip shortage and part supply issues have ravaged production output for nearly all automakers. Subaru’s not escaped this inevitability as they now have three models which are sold out for the remainder of 2022.

As you may be aware, demand for EVs globally far outstrips availability which easily explains why the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra is no more for the year. In fact, Subaru reported that the entire allocation for 2022 was gone in 72 hours.

Where the new 2022 Subaru BRZ is concerned, it’s sold out because it’s a low-volume model that happens to be desperately enchanting and great to drive. Sports cars are also in high demand and as pointed out by Torque News, it’s also affordable.

The newest addition to the sold-out list is the Impreza. Subaru’s entry-level model does not sell in big numbers typically which explains why the Japanese automaker has decided to divert chips and other supplies to its larger-volume and more profitable models such as the Outback and Ascent.
