Karma Automotive Gears Up for Major EV Launch in 2024

Karma Automotive announces a new lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) set to debut in 2024, marking a significant turnaround for the California-based company.

  • Karma Automotive plans to unveil a new EV portfolio in November 2023, including a super coupe.

  • The company, previously linked to Fisker, has faced challenges but now seems revitalized under new leadership.

  • The EV lineup reveal is slated for the Wynn Concours in Las Vegas, with full production expected in 2024.

Karma Automotive, a California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is setting its sights on a strong comeback in the rapidly evolving EV market. Originally associated with the early EV innovator Fisker, Karma faced challenges in the past but is now poised for a renaissance under the guidance of its current president, Marques McCammon.

The company’s history traces back to its acquisition by the Chinese auto part supplier, Wanxiang Group, in 2014. They purchased the remaining assets of Fisker Automotive post its bankruptcy. By 2016, Karma launched the Revero, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), followed by plans for a Revero GT and a new GS line in 2021. However, the company has yet to release a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for passengers.

Recent years saw sporadic news about Karma, including legal battles and ventures into the B2B sector for fleet electrification. However, the narrative started changing after McCammon took the helm in March. One of his initial moves was collaborating with the company’s Vice President of Global Design, Michelle Christensen, aiming to replicate her previous successful designs like Acura’s NSX supercar.

The company’s ambitious goal isn’t just a single car redesign; it’s about launching an entire EV range. With only a month left before the anticipated reveal at the Wynn Concours in Las Vegas, the pressure is mounting. Christensen emphasizes the uniqueness of their design process, highlighting its collaborative nature. She believes that their designs, focusing on low, long, and fast vehicles, will rival top European brands.

Karma’s upcoming event in Las Vegas promises insights into its BEV sports tourers, including the much-anticipated super coupe. As the company outlines its aggressive product plan, all eyes will be on Karma to witness whether they can truly reinvent themselves and make a mark in the competitive EV market in 2024 and beyond.
