LEGO McLaren Senna makes its public debut at E3

A couple of weeks after being shown for the first time, the LEGO McLaren Senna travelled to Los Angeles for E3.

The E3, a popular and renowned gaming event in Los Angeles, was the host of the 1:1 scale LEGO McLaren Senna where it made its North American debut.

The car was unveiled during the Microsoft’s Xbox press conference, at Microsoft Theatre, to mark the launch of a new game, Forza Horizon 4 LEGO Speed Champions expansion.

The car is made out of nearly half a million bricks, 467,854 to be precise, and required teams of up to 10 model-makers to create. Compared to the LEGO McLaren 720S created a few years ago, the Senna used almost 200,000 more bricks.

2,725 hours were needed to click all the half a million bricks together, which is, according to McLaren, nine times longer than to build the actual McLaren Senna. The hand-assembled real Senna takes 300 hours to make.

If you add design and development, the LEGO McLaren Senna took a total of 4,935 hours create and build with a team of 42 members from the LEGO build team.

The Forza Horizon 4 LEGO Speed Champions expansion launches worldwide on June 13 and will be available on Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs and Xbox Game Pass as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. In the game, the LEGO Senna will be playable along with a new LEGO themed world.

The LEGO car will be on display during E3 inside the Microsoft Theatre.
