Maserati has submitted a trademark application for the name “MC25” through the World Intellectual Property Organization, indicating a new or updated supercar could be revealed before the end of 2025.
The MC25 name continues Maserati’s “MC” naming lineage, following the MC12 and MC20 models. The number “25” likely corresponds to the expected reveal year, similar to how the MC20 was launched in 2020. Given that Maserati is already midway through the calendar year, the car could be unveiled in the next six months.
While specific details about the MC25 remain limited, the model is widely speculated to be an evolution of the current MC20 rather than an all-new vehicle. The similarity in logo design between the MC20 and the new MC25 trademark—identical font and layout aside from the final numeral—supports this theory.
Ongoing developments around the MC20 suggest Maserati is preparing a revised version with enhanced performance and updated styling. Reports indicate that a more powerful version of the twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine could be used, potentially pushing output above 700 horsepower. This would align with the MCXtrema track-focused variant of the MC20, which already exceeds that benchmark.
The MC25 is not expected to adopt an electric powertrain. Maserati’s previous plans for an electric MC20 appear to have been shelved, with the company focusing instead on internal combustion enhancements.
Industry observers anticipate that Maserati may reveal the MC25 at Monterey Car Week in August. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and The Quail have both served as launchpads for performance vehicles in recent years.
Now, whether a new supercar will help Maserati’s bottom line or keep the brand relevant within the Stellantis Group remains to be seen.
