Mercedes-Benz released a teaser image of the upcoming new E-Class sedan that shows the silhouette of this model that will be fully unveiled on April 25.
After having refreshed the S-Class in 2021 and the C-Class just last year, Mercedes-Benz now turns its attention to the E-Class, its mid-size executive sedan.
Unsurprisingly, the new model is expected to show a style that is inspired by the current version of both aforementioned models, as was also the case for the previous generation.
Indeed, the new E-Class will share its design cues with the smaller C-Class while some details will be taken from the flagship S-Class. This can be seen in the image the automaker released today.
While the profile of the car is mostly obscured by shadows, its headlamps and taillamps can be seen quite clearly, both looking very similar to those used on the C-Class. On the other hand, the new E-Class appears to feature retractable door handles just like the S-Class.
Another detail that can be seen in the image is a flap on the left rear quarter panel. Since Mercedes usually places the fuel filler door on the passenger side of its vehicles, this is likely to be where a charge port for a plug-in hybrid drivetrain is located.
The automaker pretty much confirms the availability of such as powertrain by saying that the new E-Class will feature “consistent electrification” and the capability to drive only on electric power in some circumstances.
Since Mercedes has yet to reveal the full technical details of this model, we don’t know yet if this powertrain will be standard or an option, but it is likely that every drivetrain available in this model will be electrified in some way since the company says the E-Class will continue to be an “innovation leader”.
All of these details should be released on April 25 when the regular versions of the new E-Class will be launched. Those waiting for the more powerful AMG variants will have to be patient since these models will be unveiled at a later date.
Interestingly, while the exterior design of the new E-Class is still a secret, Mercedes has already released a full image of the interior of the upcoming sedan, which will feature a variation of its Hyperscreen fully-digital dashboard where the instrument cluster is a free-standing unit.
