Mid-Engine Ford Mustang Rendering Combines Mach-E and NSX Elements

• Mid-engine Ford Mustang likely won’t happen, but we can always dream about it

The mid-engine Ford Mustang has been dreamed about for a long time, but it will likely remain a figment of our imagination.

Even with the C8 Corvette moving to a mid-engine layout, the Ford Mustang will likely remain with its current setup. That said, the Mustang name is expanding. There’s the upcoming electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, so maybe the nameplate could also be used on a future mid-engine performance car.

A car like this Ford Mustang Mach-S rendering found on Behance. It takes the front fascia of the Mach-E, flattens it and makes it wider, and puts it on a sleek mid-engine two-seater. If you’re like us, you’re also seeing elements of the latest hybrid Acura NSX.

The designer, Somak Biswas, doesn’t give too many details on the rendering’s powertrain, but does detail his inspiration for the design.

“Following the footprints of the Mustang Mach-E, that proved that legends can be remade in any form; and of course inspired by the legend itself, this nimble sports car is the future of sports in cars”.

In other words, there is a world where the Mustang name is its own family of models, like the Ford Bronco family. In that world, the Mustang name applies to a lot of different models including this performance mid-engine coupe.

Unfortunately, that world isn’t the one we are living it now.
