MINI has introduced the latest generation of its Cooper Convertible model, rounding out the current MINI family lineup. The new convertible emphasizes open-air driving enjoyment while incorporating modern technology and customization options.
The fully automatic soft top can open in 18 seconds at speeds up to 30 km/h, allowing drivers to quickly transition to open-air motoring. The roof can be partially opened like a sunroof or fully retracted behind the rear seats.
Three engine options are available, ranging from 163 hp in the Cooper C to 204 hp in the Cooper S. The most powerful variant accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 237 km/h. Fuel efficiency is rated at 6.5-6.6 L/100 km combined.
The exterior design features clean surfaces, large wheels up to 18 inches, and signature round LED headlights. Twelve exterior paint colours are offered, along with optional decorative elements like a Union Jack pattern on the soft top.
Inside, the cockpit utilizes a minimalist design focused around a central 240 mm OLED touchscreen display. The interior can be customized with various materials and colour options for the seats and trim panels.
New technology includes a voice-activated MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant and seven selectable “Experience Modes” that adjust the vehicle’s driving characteristics and interior ambiance. Available driver assistance features include steering and lane keeping assistance.
Stefan Richmann, Head of the MINI brand, stated: “Our new MINI Cooper Convertible offers unmistakable, hallmark driving fun, coupled with boundless freedom and great emotions: Always Open.”
The new MINI Cooper Convertible is produced at the brand’s Oxford plant in England. Pricing, specifications and exact availability dates for the Canadian market have not yet been announced.
