Porsche will unveil a new 911 variant on April 14, 2026, via a digital world premiere. According to the very limited information provided, this model is positioned around driving engagement rather than outright numbers.
The automaker said the reveal will begin at 4:00 p.m. CEST and will be broadcast on YouTube and in the Porsche Newsroom. The presentation will take the form of an entertaining film rather than a conventional static launch.
Porsche describes the incoming car as a “particularly fun” sports car and framed the launch around “pure driving pleasure,” language that emphasizes the experience behind the wheel.
That wording matters because Porsche’s 911 rollout pattern is usually easy to follow. Core Carrera (S, 4S, T) models usually arrive first, followed by the flagship versions such as the Turbo and GT3 (Touring, RS), with niche and enthusiast-focused versions appearing later in the cycle. The current 992.2 generation has already covered all the typical configurations, including the Targa and the hybridized Carrera GTS.
As such, the new teaser has raised questions about what remains to be added. The shadowed preview image appears to show a car without a large rear wing, while some observers have pointed to what appears to be front-lid venting that recalls GT3-family cues.
Porsche has not yet identified the model or provided any details, leaving room for several theories, none of which have been confirmed by the company. One possibility, based on Porsche’s wording, is a purer, manual-transmission derivative for true driving enthusiasts who prioritize interaction over maximum output.
Another is a new Touring-style interpretation, based potentially on the Turbo. The clearly restrained exterior treatment eliminates any and all thoughts of a GT2 iteration. Some think that Porsche could use the debut to introduce an open-top variation of an existing enthusiast model, but that also seems unlikely.
For fun, we’ll throw in our thoughts: This is the return of the 912. If you recall, offered from the mid- to late-1960s, the 912 was the most basic trim of the 911. We can imagine a 912 based on the Carrera, however fitted with the 718 Cayman S’ turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder engine (the 912 had a 4-cylinder). We’re almost kidding…
For now, Porsche is offering only a teaser and a time stamp. The full identity of the new 911 will be disclosed on April 14.
