The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO offers 420 horsepower, NISMO-tuned suspension, improved aerodynamics, and track-enhanced brakes, catering to driving enthusiasts seeking a dynamic experience.
2024 Nissan Z NISMO boasts 420 horsepower, a slight increase from standard Z.
NISMO-tuned suspension, brakes, and wider wheels optimize cornering grip and precision.
Enhanced aerodynamics with the “Grand-Nose” design, rear spoiler, and side sills improve track performance.
The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO is designed to appeal to driving enthusiasts seeking a heightened sports car experience. Building on the capabilities of the Z Sport and Performance trims, the NISMO variation offers targeted enhancements to elevate the iconic sports car’s performance.
A standout feature of the Z NISMO is its twin-turbo engine, delivering 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, marking an slight increase of 20 hp and 34 lb-ft compared to other Z variations. These enhancements are achieved through improved cooling, revised electronic wastegate control, and an independent ignition spark timing strategy inspired by the Nissan GT-R NISMO.
NISMO engineers paid special attention to the Z’s suspension, aiming to optimize precision, predictability, and cornering grip. Unique stabilizer bars, stiffer spring rates, and retuned dampers contribute to a confident track-ready performance. The goal was to provide accurate and responsive steering, allowing drivers to navigate turns with ease.
Aesthetically, the Z NISMO underwent engineering revisions to improve its aerodynamics on the racetrack. The “Grand-Nose” or “G-Nose” styling element extends farther forward than other grades, complemented by a restyled grille opening with a thin honeycomb mesh. Front corner canards create vortexes over the wheels, enhancing aerodynamic performance. A taller, wider rear spoiler and redesigned side sills contribute to reduced aerodynamic drag and lift.
The Z NISMO’s interior features anodized red engine-start and drive mode buttons, along with a fully digital TFT meter display outlined in red around the tachometer and a NISMO logo. Recaro seats with leather and Alcantara finishing, featuring a red center section and NISMO logos in the headrests, provide a sporty and stylish touch.
The Z NISMO is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission, specially enhanced for faster and more dynamic shifting performance, with a focus on track suitability. Manual transmission is not offered for the NISMO trim. Launch control ensures aggressive standing-start acceleration, and the new Sport+ drive mode offers a racetrack-tuned shift program for circuit driving.
The brake system of the Z NISMO has been upgraded with larger rotors at the front and a more performance-focused brake pad compound, providing improved brake pedal feel and enhanced braking performance for extended track use.
Comprehensive chassis revisions, including bracing and stiffening measures, ensure that the Z NISMO can handle the increased cornering forces, delivering a faithfully responsive driving experience on the track and beyond.
The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO caters to driving enthusiasts seeking a more dynamic sports car experience. Its performance-enhanced features, improved aerodynamics, and optimized performance make it an exciting addition to the legendary Z series. The Z NISMO is expected to go on sale in the fall, with pricing details to be announced at a later date.
