See Underneath Bugatti Centodieci’s Carbon Fibre Skin

  • First prototype of run of 10 cars currently being assembled

  • Bugatti’s latest hypercar a tribute to the EB 110

Bugatti first unveiled the Centodieci, a tribute to the EB 110, at an event in summer of 2019. If you’re one of the 10 (probably) billionaires who has put down a deposit for one of the ultra-limited cars, then we have good news. If you don’t have a deposit, and just want to see a part of Bugattis you might not otherwise, we have good news for you too.

The first prototype Centodieci is in the process of being assembled, the 1,600 hp W16 hypercar will be used to develop the chassis and production processes for the 10 that will be assembled for customers.

That gives us a look at Bugatti that we don’t often see. With all of the carbon fibre bodywork removed and the chassis in the midst of assembly. With electronics exposed, intercoolers in the breeze, and even the washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs on display.

Bugatti has put the rolling chassis on its dynamometer in Molsheim, letting it check the functions of the driveline. Now the automaker needs to build the extreme exterior and make sure everything there fits together properly. It also has to allow the eight thousand or so heat exchangers properly move air across their surfaces to ensure power and cooling are maintained.

Dynamic testing will follow simulator and wind tunnel testing, which Bugatti hopes to start in the next few months on its test track. Once that happens, the cars should be ready to deliver to their buyers, who are likely eagerly awaiting their eight million euro new toys.
