New Zealand’s Shocking Ad Campaign For Wearing A Seatbelt

The New Zealand government has launched a shocking advertising campaign on seatbelt use.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is currently running an advertising campaign targeting men between the ages of 20 and 40. This campaign aims to reduce the number of deaths each year attributed to men not wearing a seatbelt while driving.

The campaign, which is called Belt Up. Live On., was launched last month and features 10 shocking photos. These pictures depict 10 men who were in an accident where they were wearing a seatbelt and survived.

All the original wounds suffered by these men were recreated with makeup and prosthetics. The team behind the recreation of injuries followed the professional advice of trauma specialists and the memories of the injuries of each individual and their families.

These punchy photos were put on personalized billboards in the parking lots of bars and key events around New Zealand.

On the website of the campaign, you can read the list of injuries of each of the men involved and the date of the accident where their seatbelt saved their lives.

A video was also produced for each of the men shown in the campaign. These 10 emotional videos show the makeup being applied while they tell their story.

Take a look below at the final pictures as well as the videos.
