It’s interesting to see how BMW is setting up its new fully-electric i4 sedan. In a bid to remind everyone that BMW still makes driving machines, they’ve shared images of the i4 that not only show going quickly in a straight line, but many are of the sedan drifting.
One of BMW’s goals in relation to the i4 is to endow it with the necessary skills to be perfectly at home in all driving situations including apex hunting. The car is currently in the final phases of driving dynamics testing and it seems obvious that it’s perfectly at home going sideways.
“The BMW i4 conveys the feeling of being light and agile yet also solid and authoritative,” says project manager David Alfredo Ferrufino Camacho. “With its superior directional reliability and high level of cornering stability, it seems to literally attach itself to the road. All electric vehicles are capable of fast straight-line acceleration. But that’s not enough for us at BMW.”
The electric 4 Series Gran Coupé features a model-specific chassis tune that provides an ideal balance of driving precision and comfort. The powertrain is capable of up to 530 horsepower which enables a 0-100km/h sprint of only 4 seconds. The i4 will be equipped with the latest battery technology which should deliver up to 600km (WLTP) of range.
