BYD is already set up in North America and sells commercial vehicles.
The BYD Han is one of the most popular EVs in China.
The Han station wagon is only a concept at the moment.
Depending on where you live, it’s possible that you’ve spotted BYD vehicles driving about as a taxi or perhaps noticed the three red letters on a commercial vehicle. BYD is far larger than we’re aware of in North America. In fact, one of its vehicles, the Han, is a best-seller in China. And BYD’s commissioned a few concepts including this wagon.
The Han was introduced back in May of 2020, and it quickly gained momentum. Its specifications, design, and content were exactly what EV buyers wanted, and they bought plenty of them. Up until now, only a sedan version was offered but these images suggest that BYD is evaluating a station wagon variant alternative as well as a convertible.
The Han’s many highlights, according to Insideevs, include an available dual-motor layout, up to 605 km (376 miles) of NEDC range, and fast charging abilities that will take the battery’s SOC from 30 to 80% in 25 minutes or provide 135 km (84 miles) of range every 10 minutes of recharge.
It’s unknown for now if the Han wagon will be built but we think if BYD wants to carve itself a niche section of the growing EV market in North America, this would be a good way to start.
