The Lamborghini Gentleman Racer Has a New Toy Coming: the Temerario Super Trofeo 2027

Lamborghini has given the world an early look at the Temerario Super Trofeo, a new race car that will take over from the Huracán Super Trofeo in 2027.

  • The model is built on the foundation of the Temerario GT3
  • The model was first shown at Misano Wolrd Circuit
  • There is no electric assistance with this V8

Lamborghini has unveiled the design concept for the Temerario Super Trofeo, a race car set to make its competitive debut in the Asian, European, and North American championships in 2027.

The presentation took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli during the traditional season-closing Lamborghini World Finals, marking the arrival of the sixth model developed under the Squadra Corse customer racing division. The new Temerario will take over from the hugely successful Huracán Super Trofeo, which has served as the reference vehicle for Lamborghini’s one-make series since 2015.

The Temerario Super Trofeo follows in the tire tracks of the Temerario GT3, unveiled earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and scheduled to debut competitively at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2026. Both cars embody Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s long-standing commitment to customer racing.

“In 2009 we made the bold decision to launch the Gallardo Super Trofeo,” stated Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Lamborghini was not born as a racing brand, yet our customers — more than 1,300 drivers have competed in Super Trofeo — have constantly asked us for a product designed for the track. Over the years, Super Trofeo and customer racing have become a true pillar of our long-term company strategy, strengthening the bond between the brand and its most passionate clients. With the Temerario Super Trofeo we are taking another decisive step, reaffirming our promise to deliver a pure race car for the growing community that joins us during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekends.”

Since its inception in 2009, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo has been a cornerstone of the brand’s motorsport program. The inaugural European series used the Gallardo Super Trofeo for four seasons before the arrival of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo (2013–2015). In 2015, that model shared the grid with the all-new Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, which became the sole competition model until 2017. Two subsequent Evo generations extended its lifespan — the first from 2018 to 2021, and the second from 2022 through 2025. Across all regions, Lamborghini Super Trofeo has hosted 1,383 drivers and 563 races, spanning Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

“The Temerario Super Trofeo is the ultimate expression of our ‘fun-to-drive’ philosophy,” said Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “We created a car that is the pure racing evolution of the road-going Temerario. Thanks to its direct link to the Temerario GT3, which shares many components including the engine and gearbox, it is the ideal entry point for those eager to experience the world of GT competition.”

Derived from the Temerario Stradale road car, the new race version swaps its hybrid-assisted powertrain for a rear-wheel-drive, twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 producing 641 ch, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox sourced from Hoer — the same unit used in the GT3. This shared DNA ensures the Super Trofeo serves as a natural training ground for both gentleman racers and aspiring professionals preparing to step up to GT3 competition.

Built on an ALU/CFK hybrid chassis with a fully integrated FIA roll cage, the Temerario Super Trofeo features a sophisticated driver interface, complete with ABS braking and 12-position adjustable traction control. As with previous models, Lamborghini Squadra Corse continues its partnerships with Pertamina (engine lubricants), Capristo (exhaust systems), KW (suspension), and BMC Air Filters.

Adding a touch of innovation inside, the new Super Trofeo introduces Dinamica Infinity, the world’s first 100 % PES mono-component non-woven suede designed for automotive use. Making its debut in 2027 with Lamborghini Motorsport’s Super Trofeo series, it will feature on the dashboards, symbolizing the next evolution of Lamborghini’s commitment to sustainable materials and performance craftsmanship.
