Supercars are usually at home on race tracks and glass-smooth highways, but Lamborghini wants to show that its supercars can take on many different terrains.
First teased in 2019, the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is a modified version of the brand’s “entry-level” supercar that is prepped for driving across the desert.
Like most off-roaders, the Sterrato features a lifted suspension and all-terrain tires as well as beefy roof bars and additional LED light bars in the front. There is even a copious amount of black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, as is common on off-road oriented SUVs.
Unlike most off-roaders, however, is the Huracán Sterrato’s powertrain. Indeed, the supercar keeps the same V10 engine that powers the road-going variants, which should give it a level of performance that is not often seen in vehicles made specifically for going over tough terrains.
A clue as to the car’s power and speed is the large roof-mounted air scoop that funnels air directly to the engine’s intake in order to improve high-speed performance.
Lamborghini is aiming directly at the Porsche 911 Dakar with this new off-road focussed supercar, the details of which will be revealed at the end of the month.
