With the A-Class Hatchback already on the market, Mercedes-Benz is turning its attention to the A-Class sedan and released today its Canadian starting price.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan, or A 220, will start at $34,990 with the A 220 4Matic Sedan starting at $36,990.
That’s $1,000 less than the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A 250 Hatch and makes the 2019 A-Class sedan the most affordable Mercedes-Benz vehicle you can buy in Canada.
The A 220 sedan gets a less powerful version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine than in the A 250 with 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque on tap. The A-Class Hatchback makes 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
As a result, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan reaches 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds while the hatchback realizes the sprint in 6.2 seconds.
Standard features on the A-Class sedan include panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, keyless start, heated windshield washer system, leather steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, Attention assist, adaptive braking with hold function and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan Packages
As you would imagine, you can get a host of other features by checking out the A 220’s optional packages.
The Premium package will add blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a larger 10.25-inch instrument cluster display, MBUX voice control, keyless-go, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging for your smartphone.
The Sport package adds an AMG styling package, sport brake system, 18-inch AMG wheels, sport seats, a sport steering wheel, and silver steering wheel shift paddles.
Night package is basically the same as the Sport package, but everything goes black for a different, more menacing look (some will say).
The Navigation package adds the nav system, obviously, with traffic sign assist and live traffic updates.
LED Headlamps, adaptive highbeam assist and active distance assist DISTRONIC are included in the tech package.
Noteworthy standalone options in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan include a heated steering wheel, 12-speaker Burmeister surround sound system, active parking assist and a 360-degree camera.
What About MBUX?
The A-Class sedan features the Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system as stated previously. In case you’re wondering, MBUX is part infotainment, part personal assistant.
Using the voice command “Hey, Mercedes”, you can ask MBUX to perform a variety of tasks using normal language, from adjusting the climate controls to telling you who won the Stanley Cup in 2004. The system also adjusts its parameters to your preferences over time.
MBUX is offered in both the A-Class hatchback and sedan as well as the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE.
