2020 Bentley Flying Spur Debuts With New Tech and Monster V12

After redesigning the Continental GT last year, Bentley turns its attention to the Flying Spur sedan.

The all-new 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is the third generation of Bentley’s Continental-based luxury sedan. Presented as a blend of both comfort and performance, the Flying Spur works whether you’re being driven or are driving according to Bentley.

Along with featuring Bentley’s flying B hood ornament for the first time, the Flying Spur’s design takes many of the cues seen on the redesigned Bentley Continental GT including dual round headlights with larger inner lights, bold body panels and a flowing rear roofline, and massive wheels. The 22-inch rims will be connected to three-chamber air springs providing more customization options and settings for ride comfort or behavior.

Inside, expect more luxury than ever. As is usually the case at Bentley, there’s an extensive list of possibilities including single and dual wood veneer options. There’s also something Bentley is calling “three-dimensional diamond quilted leather door inserts”, apparently a first in the automotive world.

The clean and flowing dashboard hides a rotating center console that can show a 12.3-inch digital touchscreen, analogue dials or a “digital detoxifying veneer”.

There’s more space as well thanks to a longer overall body that sits on a 130-mm longer wheelbase. Rear passengers will be the main benefactors.

All-wheel steering is available in a Bentley for the first time to help make the large sedan nimbler. All-wheel drive and Bentley Dynamic Ride are both standard as well. No doubt that this will be the most comfortable, most refined Flying Spur ever. It will also be the fastest thanks to a massive 12-cylinder engine found under its long hood.

The 6.0-liter, twin-turbo V12 packs 626 bhp and 664 pound-feet of torque, more than enough to get the Flying Spur to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and to a top speed of 207 mph or 333 km/h. The Flying Spur is built on a new chassis as well.

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is coming early next year. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but expect it to be in the 250-300k range.
