2021 Chevy Monte Carlo Rendering Makes Wacky Proportions Look Decent

  • Reimagined Chevrolet Monte Carlo gets modern taillights and better wheels

If a 2021 Chevy Monte Carlo were to happen, it could look something like this. Of course, the chances that Chevrolet brings back a Monte Carlo are very close the zero.

But hey, we’ve seen a new Chevrolet Blazer and a new Chevrolet Trailblazer in recent years, and everywhere you look an automaker is bringing back a nameplate from its past. Theoretically, the Monte Carlo name could come back, but it would likely not be a full-size coupe.

It’s the same problem we highlighted with the Buick Grand National rendering we showed last week. There just isn’t a market for full-size coupes right now.

And really, the Monte Carlo name gets as much hate as it does love among enthusiasts, mainly because of the last generation and some questionable models it featured. Those 2000s Monte Carlo SS models were a sight to see, and not in a good way.

Granted, they’ve kept their value pretty well. There’s a 2002 Monte Carlo SS for sale in Guelph, Ontario, for $36,000 CAN with 47 kilometres (30 miles). That’s story in and of itself.

Back to the 2021 Chevy Monte Carlo, it’s the work of The Sketch Monkey who also brought us this stunning Volvo 240 rendering.

As expected, the weird proportions of the last Monte Carlo caused a few problems. Sketch Monkey describes the unusual overall design as “melted cheese” because of the lack of any kind of sharp angle, and we think he should put that on a t-shirt and sell it with the outline of an original Monte Carlo.

The 2021 Monte Carlo rendering takes that melted cheese and turns it into a beautiful soufflé. The roof line of the rendered vehicle looks similar to the original, but the rear end is sleek and modern. We particularly like the small dual exhaust tips on each end. The fenders have been straightened out and the rear taillight LEDs are sleek and understated.

If Chevrolet does build a 2021 Monte Carlo, they have to make it look like this.
