2021 Lexus IS Debut Happening June 15

  • The original Lexus IS debut was scheduled for June 9

  • The launch was postponed out of respect for George Floyd

The 2021 Lexus IS will debut on June 15 after the original date was postponed out of respect for the murder of George Floyd.

The original Lexus IS launch date was scheduled for June 9th. Lexus released a teaser video of the new IS that confirms the new generation will feature a redesigned rear continuous LED taillight. The vid also confirmed the return of the IS 350 version which is currently the most powerful trim in the family with 311 horsepower. No word on the Lexus IS F coming back, but the video shows an F Sport trim.

The 2021 IS will compete with the likes of the redesigned Acura TLX as well as the German trio of the C-Class, 3 Series and A4. Expect a completely new interior with larger screens and more connectivity technology.

The engine lineup should stay roughly the same with a 3.5-litre V6 powering the more powerful IS 350. This is all speculation as Lexus hasn’t released any info. Stay tuned next Monday.
