Ford has introduced the all-new 2025 Expedition, a full-size SUV redesigned to cater to active families. The new model offers enhanced technology, versatility, and off-road capabilities, including the first-ever Expedition Tremor variant.
The 2025 Expedition features a new Ford Digital Experience, centred around a 24-inch panoramic digital display. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, functioning as a family command centre with driver-specific profiles and app integration.
A unique feature in its class, the Ford Split Gate combines elements of an SUV liftgate and a pickup truck tailgate. It can fold down to create stadium seating or a serving table, supporting up to 500 pounds. The gate also offers hands-free operation with the Open-on-Approach feature.
Interior improvements include an available Flex Powered Console for enhanced storage and access, and new Third-Row Flexible Seating for improved cargo management. The vehicle also features exterior zone lighting for night-time activities, controllable via the infotainment system.
The Ford Connectivity Package provides a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices, with a range of up to 50 feet. It also includes access to Google Play apps for entertainment and Google Maps integration for navigation.
Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving system will be available on nearly 90% of Expedition models, offering features such as Lane Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning. Customers can choose between a one-year trial or purchase at vehicle order.
The new Expedition Tremor is positioned as Ford’s most off-road capable Expedition model. It features 33-inch all-terrain tires, 10.6-inch ground clearance, and underbody protection. The Tremor also includes off-road technologies like Rock Crawl Mode and Trail 1-Pedal.
For towing, the Expedition offers Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 9,600 pounds with a weight distributing hitch.
The 2025 Expedition lineup includes Active, Platinum, King Ranch, and Tremor models. Ordering opens on October 24, with vehicles expected to arrive in showrooms in Spring 2025.
Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities, stated that the redesign was based on over 1,100 customer interviews, focusing on enhancing family trips and activities.
