Another 3-Row Jeep SUV On The Way For 2020

Jeep has confirmed that they will launch another 3-row SUV that will wedge itself between the loved Grand Cherokee and the upcoming Wagoneer.

FCA truly has nothing to worry about, at least not for a decade or so. By leveraging the Jeep name, they are practically guaranteeing sales and revenues and they won’t be going at it half-assed either. By announcing the coming of another new 3-row SUV, they will attempt to corner the market. So that’s a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Jeep “???” and a Jeep Wagoneer.

And by not half-arsing it, we mean that all these new SUVs will be available with one form or another of electrification. Obviously, six- and eight-cylinder engine options will be available however those who prefer to purchase some credit from the environment will be happy to learn that despite a “hybrid” badge, their Jeep will be as every bit a “Jeep” as the person that goes for a HEMI.

The real bit of news is the confirmation that there will in fact be another 3-row large SUV by next year and that it will set up shop between the Grand Cherokee and the anticipated Wagoneer. This new SUV will be very much a stretched Grand Cherokee sharing platform, powertrains and possibly more. What it will not share is a name.

A few weeks ago, we reported on a Grand Wagoneer but we may have jumped the gun, or did we? What would make sense is that this new addition be given the name Wagoneer and the flagship $100k Jeep Super-Ute get the “Grand” prefix. Alternatively, Willys could be a fitting nameplate for such a vehicle. We would however advise against “Commander”, “Liberty” and “Cowboy” (look it up.)

Wherever FCA decides to take their new trucks, we’re convinced that Jeep lovers are salivating at the thought of owning a piece of the next generation of legendary utility vehicles.
