A sillier yet cooler vehicle is difficult to imagine. Shoehorning a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine into a Chrysler Pacifica minivan is something that’s been discussed on the internet for a while, but it’s never been done. That may change in a few weeks.
Renderings of such a minivan go back a few years, including the one you see just above. Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis have never committed to building one and it’s understandable. It’s difficult to imagine that thousands of families would drop $80,000 ($100,000 CDN) on a supercharged V8-powered minivan. Also, minivans are all but dead and there’s too much money to be made selling big SUVs.
YouTube personality Tavarish has decided to do something about this and recently announced on Facebook that he was going to undertake the task of building a Pacifica Hellcat. Beyond the boosted V8, no details exist. Decisions on the project will include going RWD or AWD which will be based on the doner vehicle, and how crazy the van’s body kit will have to be to fit the oversized wheels, tires, brakes, exhaust, and so on.
The Tavarish-built Pacifica Hellcat will be revealed at next month’s New York Auto Show held between April 15th and 24th. Perhaps this will be enough for Stellantis to finally make and sell this van. And why not make it a special anniversary edition? 2023 is the Chrysler Magic Wagon’s 40th birthday.
