Bentley EXP 15: A Futuristic and Philosophical Coupe Rooted in Heritage

Bentley has unveiled the EXP 15, a bold new design concept that marks both a creative vision of future luxury mobility and the official opening of the brand’s new design studio. Although not destined for production, the EXP 15 offers clear design and technology cues that will influence upcoming Bentley models, including the brand’s first fully electric vehicle.

  • The EXP 15 is a design and a philosophical study for Bentley

  • The car is not yet expected to be reach production

  • It would have been a great competitor to the Rolls-Royce Spectre

Drawing on the brand’s grand touring legacy—most notably the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting “Blue Train” coupe—the EXP 15 translates those iconic proportions into a thoroughly modern form. Its silhouette features an upright grille, extended bonnet line, and a rear-set cabin, but integrates them with cutting-edge elements like active aerodynamics, ultra-slim LED lighting, and advanced surfacing techniques.

Even if this is pure Bentley, we can see influences from Volvo, Rolls-Royce, and even Lincoln. This is evident in the shape of the front grille (Lincoln), the silhouette (Rolls-Royce Spectre), and the taillights, which could have come from any modern Volvo.

The EXP 15 is a full-size, five-metre-plus concept sculpted around five key exterior design principles that Bentley says will guide its future product lineup. These include “Upright Elegance,” which ensures the front profile remains proudly vertical; the “Iconic Grille,” which remains a stylistic anchor even in the electric era thanks to new lighting technology; and the “Endless Bonnet Line,” an unbroken visual signature stretching from the front to the rear of the car.

Bentley designers also emphasize the “Resting Beast” stance, marked by powerful rear haunches and relaxed yet athletic posture—balancing muscularity with poise. Finally, the “Prestigious Shield” defines the clean and elegant rear surface, which includes intricate diamond-shaped taillights and a prominent Bentley badge.

Sculpturally, the EXP 15 showcases a design philosophy rooted in three traits: “Monolithic Presence,” “Muscular Form,” and “Carved Precision.” These are manifested in the car’s tensioned curves, chiselled lines, and athletic proportions—all of which give the vehicle a commanding presence while maintaining an air of refinement.

The EXP 15 come to life

Lighting and aerodynamic elements are not just aesthetic, but functional. Headlights composed of slim vertical and angled LED strips flank the signature grille, which itself features a central illuminated spine and a diamond-quilt motif inspired by Bentley interiors. Rear active spoilers and a deployable diffuser further underscore the EXP 15’s performance-oriented intentions.

Reimagine travel

Inside, Bentley’s designers have created a digital-physical fusion meant to anticipate future luxury preferences. The interior departs from convention with a unique three-seat, three-door layout. One driver-side door offers access to a cockpit-like seat, while twin coach doors on the passenger side and a segment of the panoramic roof open upwards to reveal a more luxurious swivelling seat designed for seamless entry and exit.

Inspired by historic Bentley seating arrangements and ceremonial elegance, the interior promotes “the art of arrival.” The passenger seat adjusts into multiple configurations—from co-pilot to lounge mode—and includes an innovative Concertina Floor Storage system, which even accommodates pets or hand luggage mid-journey.

The cabin is defined by five interior design principles: “Wing Gesture,” referencing Bentley’s signature winged dash layout; “Bold Gravitas,” highlighting large surfaces crafted from natural materials; “Cocooning Haven,” providing privacy and comfort; “Iconic Details,” such as bullseye vents and diamond quilting; and “Magical Fusion,” blending digital and tactile features seamlessly.

EXP 15’s centrepiece is a full-width digital dashboard capable of revealing or hiding screens depending on user needs, thanks to layered glass with wood veneer beneath. In the middle sits the “Mechanical Marvel,” a futuristic clock-like device that blends analogue charm with digital intelligence.

As rich in history as it can be

Material innovation is central to the interior theme. A 100% wool ombre textile by Fox Brothers, an English mill with over 250 years of history, sits beside lightweight 3D-printed titanium finishes. A silk jacquard fabric from Gainsborough—a supplier to British royalty—is paired with modern metal mesh called Acrylic Couture, creating dynamic backlit 3D textures throughout the cabin.

The exterior wears a satin-finish Pallas Gold paint inspired by nickel accents on vintage Bentleys, but made modern with ultra-thin aluminium pigments that are radar- and lidar-compatible, allowing for autonomous system integration.

Sadly, it won’t go head-to-head against the Spectre

While Bentley hasn’t released drivetrain specs, the EXP 15 is conceived as a fully electric, all-wheel-drive grand tourer. The intent is clear: to combine sustainable performance with the refined comfort Bentley customers expect.
