Bugatti Bares F.K.P. Hommage as Tribute to Veyron and Ferdinand Piëch

  • F.K.P. Hommage features 1,600 hp W16 engine from the Chiron Super Sport with major refinements.

  • Design reinterprets Veyron styling with updated proportions, advanced paintwork, and 3D-machined elements.

  • Bespoke interior includes Parisian fabrics and mechanical Audemars Piguet watch powered by vehicle movement.

Bugatti has unwrapped the F.K.P. Hommage, the second vehicle developed under its limited-run Programme Solitaire. The bespoke model commemorates two milestones: the 20th anniversary of the Veyron hypercar and the engineering legacy of Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Karl Piëch (F.K.P), who served as Chairman of the Volkswagen Group and was instrumental in Bugatti’s modern rebirth.

The Tribute vehicle is powered by the quad-turbocharged 1,600 hp W16 engine, drawn from the Chiron Super Sport. It is the peak of W16 development, integrating enhanced turbochargers, improved intercooling, and a reinforced gearbox capable of managing the engine’s increased torque output.

The original Veyron debuted in 1999, showcasing a then-unprecedented 1,001 hp and a top speed exceeding 400 km/h. It introduced a new category of hyper-GT vehicles by combining performance with refinement.

The W-engine configuration at the heart of the Veyron was conceived by Prof. Piëch during a visit to Japan. It evolved from Volkswagen’s earlier VR6 and W12 engines into a 16-cylinder layout. Engineers compressed the engine’s length to just 645 millimetres, enabling the Veyron to roll on a compact 2,700 mm wheelbase and with near-ideal weight distribution.

Designed by Jozef Kabaň under Hartmut Warkuß, the Veyron stood apart from other supercars of its era with a rearward-leaning silhouette and Bauhaus-influenced design. This aesthetic direction continues with the F.K.P. Hommage.

The F.K.P. Hommage keeps the Veyron’s visual posture but introduces refined proportions and updated panel alignment. A three-dimensional horseshoe grille, machined from solid aluminum, now blends more organically into the front fascia. Enlarged air intakes provide additional cooling for the more powerful W16 engine.

New 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels fit perfectly under the body’s layered red finish with a silver base coat beneath a red-tinted clear coat, designed to create depth and tonal variation under different lighting. Exposed carbon fibre surfaces use a clear coat with 10% black pigment, providing a textured, tactile finish.

The cabin includes a redesigned circular steering wheel and centre tunnel, both milled from aluminum blocks. Custom Car Couture textiles, woven in Paris, replace traditional leather surfaces.

At the centre of the dashboard is a 41mm Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon watch, mounted within a polished metal island. The timepiece operates via a mechanical gondola that rotates without an electrical connection, powered by the car’s movement. The component draws design inspiration from Ettore Bugatti’s early engine finishes.

The F.K.P. Hommage follows the Brouillard as the second creation in Programme Solitaire, an initiative producing no more than two highly individualized vehicles each year. Each model includes fully reimagined exterior and interior components, with extensive personalization rooted in Bugatti’s design heritage.
