The Seltos has become one of the strongest contenders in its category, thanks to its versatility, urban-friendly size and competitive pricing. With the arrival of this second generation, Kia signals its intention to stay at the forefront of the subcompact SUV market, where demand continues to grow in Canada.
The redesigned Seltos adopts a much more modern appearance, combining the sturdy stance of a true SUV with the cleaner, tech-forward aesthetic seen on Kia’s latest electric models. Strong visual links with the EV5 and the new Telluride are immediately noticeable, anchoring the Seltos within Kia’s evolving global design language.
The next-generation Seltos introduces a sharper front end featuring Kia’s Star Map daytime running lights, a design element that enhances its futuristic character and strengthens its brand identity. The rear end echoes this theme with a blend of horizontal and vertical lighting signatures, creating a wider, more planted look from all viewing angles.
Kia is also integrating flush door handles, an unusual feature in this segment, improving both aerodynamics and perceived refinement. The model will offer a wider variety of exterior colours, showcasing Kia’s ambition to expand the Seltos’ global appeal.
Two new trims, X-Line and GT-Line, will join the global lineup, each adding distinct personality. The X-Line brings a more rugged, adventure-oriented look, while the GT-Line caters to drivers seeking a sportier, more expressive interpretation of the Seltos.
These versions aim to attract buyers who want a subcompact SUV with more character, whether for lifestyle-focused adventures or dynamic everyday driving.
Kia has yet to release technical details about the powertrains. However, it is highly likely that the Seltos will continue to offer a base four-cylinder engine along with a turbocharged option, especially for the GT-Line. Industry speculation strongly suggests the arrival of a hybrid variant, positioning Kia to take on models like the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid head-on.
Kia will unveil the complete design and technical specifications of the 2027 Seltos during its global online premiere on December 10, streamed live on the brand’s official YouTube channel. This next-generation model is expected to play a major role in Kia’s international SUV strategy as competition in the subcompact segment intensifies.
