New Audi e-tron Sportback SUV Quietly Sat There at Geneva Motor Show

Audi revealed a second new e-tron SUV model at the Geneva Motor Show with the launch of the e-tron Sportback.

While all of the attention was focused on the new Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi’s new line of PHEV models, one vehicle sat quietly in a corner. The new Audi e-tron Sportback concept was treated like it had already been unveiled months before.

Nobody was clamoring around it for close up shots, and you couldn’t find a single journalist trying to see if the doors unlocked to get a peek inside. And yet, the e-tron Sportback concept was unveiled a day before the Geneva Motor Show officially got underway and previews yet another possible e-tron model.

Decked in the coolest camouflage you will ever see on a prototype, the Audi e-tron Sportback could eventually slot at the top of the e-tron SUV range with the current e-tron model and eventual Audi Q4 e-tron serving as the entry-level luxury Audi electric SUV.

Like the Q4 e-tron, the Sportback seems very close to production. There’s nothing too crazy about it except its camo wrap and we could definitely see it acting as an electric alternative to the Audi Q8 in the not too distance future.

If that’s the case, it would probably have the same electric powertrain as the Audi e-tron. That means a 95-kWh battery providing about 400 kilometers of range. Total output would be in the 355 horsepower range with torque set at around 414 pound-feet of torque.

Audi said the e-tron Sportback will be available in 2020, but we will have to wait a while longer to see the final production version and official specs. Still, we hope Audi keeps the orange/white trim for the tire sidewalls, and the overall shape of the e-tron Sportback seen in Geneva. It just looks really good.
