Rennsport Reunion 7 is “e-fueled” by Porsche this year

  • All vehicles used by the German manufacturer will be filled up with eFuels.

  • Even the first ever 356 will be onsite.

  • Porsche believes in a future with both fuel alternatives on the road.

Porsche may be pushing hard for an electric future, but in the meantime, it still believes in a future where the cars of the past can drive down the street with a full tank of synthetic fuel.

In fact, Porsche is such a believer that today, on September 28, 2023, Porsche’s US division has decided to bring some of its creations to the Rennsport 7 Reunion, to be held at the famous WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, near Monterey, California. All these vehicles, antique and modern, will also be powered by synthetic gasoline, also commonly known as “eFuels”.

Indeed, in addition to the Cayenne shuttles that will be transporting the guests of this annual meeting from the circuit to the hotel, Porsche will also be filling the tanks of its demonstrator vehicles for the track. Better still, prototype number one of the legendary Porsche 356 will also be on hand with, you’ve probably guessed it, synthetic fuel in the tank.

As Barbara Frenkel, Member of the Board of Directors responsible for Purchasing at Porsche AG, points out: “eFuels can make a contribution to climate protection and complement our electromobility in a meaningful way.”

The production of these synthetic fuels is based on the combination of water and carbon dioxide, and the CO2 released into the atmosphere by the car is equivalent to the amount of CO2 captured during the production of the synthetic fuel. The plant owned by Porsche and its partner HIF in Chile has been producing eFuels since the end of 2022.
