Only 100 vehicles will be produced.
The vehicle’s base is a Mustang Mach-E GT.
Modifications are mostly aesthetic, but also shave off a few pounds to the weight of the vehicle.
Ford is already offering the impressive Mustang Mach-E GT, the most powerful electric crossover from the Dearborn based manufacturer. But what about the Shelby badge? This year marks the 100th anniversary of its founder’s birth, the Texas tuner Carroll Shelby, and to mark this honorable milestone, Las Vegas-based Shelby American unveiled this very special livery for the electric crossover.
Dubbed the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT, the vehicle is a GT livery of the vehicle with some lightened components such as special wheels, a carbon fiber hood and front splitter, and a lowered suspension.
There are also carbon fiber side mirror shells and door panel components, decorative stripes – almost mandatory on a Shelby model – exclusive carpeting and badges here and there, while a numbered plaque identifies the serial number of the special electric crossover.
Unfortunately, North American Shelby enthusiasts who wish to add a new item to their collection will have to order their copy from Europe. Limited to 100 units, this performance package is only available to customers from the old continent.
“We chose to offer the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT only in Europe because EV sales are growing much faster there than in the U.S.,” said Aaron Shelby, Carroll Shelby International board member and grandson of the company’s founder. “Between 2016 and 2021, the number of public charging stations for electric vehicles increased by 431 percent in Europe. It makes sense for Shelby American,” he added.
The performance house also said it would be possible for any customer who already owns a Mustang Mach-E GT to order the kit and have it retrofited on the vehicle in question.
But since all the models with the Shelby badge are cars that are noticed for their incredible, devastating sound, the newest member of the family is also entitled to its muscular symphony. The designers integrated the fake exhaust system developed by Borla. Under the floor of the vehicle, the device consists of projecting a sound like that of a large American V8 with the help from a speaker pointed at the ground.
So, this new Shelby product will move like a Shelby, but will also sound like one of the famous company’s creations.
