The 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring PHEV is the grand daddy of the redesigned Lincoln Aviator range. It’s not only the top-of-the-line model, but it’s also powered by a plug-in hybrid engine unlike the rest of the Aviator lineup.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain is no slouch either. It pairs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor to deliver an impressive 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. That’s quite the jump over the 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque of the “regular” Aviator.
Not only is the Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring more powerful, it’s also capable of running on electric power alone for just over 32 kilometres (21 miles). Compared to the twin-turbo V6 only, the PHEV powertrain is world’s apart in terms of efficiency.
It’s not cheap, however. At $81,000 in Canada and $68,800 in the US, the Grand Touring is a cool $12k more than the base Aviator in Canada. Once your done with taxes and fees and everything else, you’re looking at a $100k SUV, again in Canada. That’s a lot of money that can get you a lot of SUVs.
