The 2022 Audi Q5 to Get a New 40 TFSI Base Version

  • The new entry-level 40 TFSI is more expensive than the previous 261-horsepower 45 TFSI base model in the US.

  • The 45 TFSI is still available however it’s now $2,500 more expensive than it was in 2021.

  • Pricing increases in Canada as far more reasonable.

On the surface, pricing for the Audi Q5 in the US is unchanged. That may be true on the surface however upon further inspection, Audi’s positioned a 40 TFSI version below the previous 45 TFSI base version for the price of the latter.

The 2021 Q5 45 TFSI quattro was last priced at $43,300 before destination charges. The 45 refers to the turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine’s 261 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque output. The 40 TFSI then is a lesser powerful model as demonstrated by the 2.0T’s 201 horsepower and 233 lb.-ft. of torque figures.

The catch is that the 2022 40 TFSI is the same price as the 2021 45 TFSI. What’s more, the 2022 Q5 45 TFSI will now sport an MSRP set at $45,800 or $2,500 more than the 2021 according to CarScoops.

In Canada, the scenario is similar but far less onerous where the 2022 Audi Q5 40 TFSI, which retails for $45,250, is only $700 less expensive than the 2021 45 TFSI. It was priced at $46,550, or $1,450 less than the 2022 equivalent.
