Aehra Electric SUV Promises Class-Leading Cabin Space

Italian EV shows incredible interior

  • Giant TV telescopes from the dash

  • Claims SUV seats four NBA players

There’s another EV upstart coming, this time from Italy. The company is called Aehra, and it looks to set itself apart with a massive cabin. One the company claims will hold “four full-size NBA players.”

We’ve already seen the outside of the Aehra. It’s a typically futuristic-looking electric concept SUV made from carbon fibre with a wonderfully Italian design.

The inside is different.

Aehra says it is taking advantage of the cabin packaging an EV allows. That, along with a three-meter wheelbase (nearly as long as a BMW 7 Series) makes it big inside.

Pop open the butterfly front doors and gullwing rears and you can see into the massive space the flat floor allows. When driving, the dash is pretty simple. It spans the full width of the car and has a screen running from left to right that includes the rearview mirrors. In the center, Aehra has placed a smaller screen to control HVAC and infotainment features.

But the narrow and wide screen hides a secret. It actually telescopes up, becoming a massive display for the driver and passengers to watch if they’re parked. Or, we assume, if autonomous driving becomes reality down the road.

Aehra says the screen layout and dimensions that put the screen far enough away from your eyes to be usable is different enough to be worth a patent. So the company has filed for one, and says it “believes it will set new standards in terms of productivity and entertainment inside a vehicle.”

The seats themselves are made from aluminum and carbon fibre. Aehra says they’ll deliver first-class comfort and offer a recline for rear-seat passengers as well as those in the front. There will be four and five-seat options, with the difference the rear center seat.

Aehra hopes to reveal a sedan early next year and to start deliveries of its electric SUV in late 2025.
