Kia has revealed the PV7, a larger electric commercial vehicle that will sit above the PV5 in the automaker’s dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle lineup.
Unveiled at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany, the PV7 will be offered in both Cargo and Passenger configurations, unlike the PV5 which began as a cargo-specialist only. Kia plans to begin sales in Korea and Europe during the second half of 2027, followed by other derivatives and markets. Kia has not confirmed a North American or Canadian launch timeline.
The PV7 uses Kia’s PBV-specific E-GMP.S architecture, providing a flat floor and an 800-volt electrical system. Buyers will have 71.5-kWh and 96.2-kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery options, depending on configuration and market.
Power output reaches 269 hp (200 kW) with 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque, delivered to the front wheels. All-wheel drive configurations are planned for a later stage. Kia estimates the Long-Range Cargo model will travel roughly 400 km EPA (or more than 460 km WLTP) on a full charge, although that figure remains subject to homologation.
Using a 350-kW DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes. The vehicle also introduces dual charging-port capability, with a front AC/DC connection and an optional additional AC port positioned toward the rear.
Cargo capacity varies substantially across the planned range. The Cargo Long provides as much as 6.1 cubic metres of space, while a High Roof version increases that figure to 8.0 cubic metres. Maximum payload reaches 1,165 kg in the Long model and 1,200 kg in the Compact. The Long also has a 550-mm loading height and room for the equivalent of three Euro pallets.
Passenger versions can carry up to nine occupants in global markets and 11 in Korea. Seven-seat models use removable seats mounted on long rails, allowing operators to reconfigure the cabin for different assignments.
Kia is also pairing the vehicle with fleet management, charging, predictive maintenance, and connected-data services. Pleos Connect, based on Android Automotive OS, will support navigation, downloadable applications and over-the-air updates.
The automaker intends to develop 23 PV7 variants, including Compact, Long, High Roof and Chassis Cab configurations plus specialized conversions. Production will take place at Kia’s Hwaseong PBV manufacturing and conversion operations in Korea.
Kia has previously confirmed the PV7 as a 2027 addition to its electric commercial-vehicle strategy, with the still-larger PV9 scheduled for 2029.
