Teaser not much to go on, but essentially confirms Maserati Ghibli Hybrid
Maserati has released a teaser video showing a lightning strike on the brand’s trident emblem which then electrifies its entire headquarters. We can only assume Italian automaker is telling us we should expect a Maserati Ghibli Hybrid some time soon.
Back in January we reported that the next Maserati Ghibli would get a hybrid powertrain. The new luxury sedan was supposed to be unveiled in April, but the current global pandemic likely changed Maserati’s plans.
The video released on Facebook doesn’t give any further indication of Maserati’s plans nor does it show a vehicle. A hybrid Ghibli dates back to 2018 when Maserati’s product planning for the year highlighted the model as the beginning of a push towards electrification at the company.
Early reports suggest the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid will get a PHEV powertrain, although nothing has been confirmed.
The Ghibli Hybrid is the first of many new models to come from Maserati. The automaker hopes to revive the MC20 supercar as well as launch a smaller luxury SUV to sit below the Levante. It’s unclear if the current pandemic has delayed Maserati’s plans, however.
