BMW has unveiled some photos of its upcoming electric vehicle lineup including the BMW iX3, BMW i4 and BMW iNEXT.
Get used to hearing the BMW iX3, BMW i4 and BMW iNEXT nameplates. All three models will comprise BMW’s electric vehicle lineup in a few years. The BMW EV lineup and their electric powertrains are currently testing in harsh winter conditions up in Sweden.
Fully electric, the BMW i lineup will feature two sport utility vehicles (iX3 and iNEXT) as well as the i4 sedan. Although the three BMW EVs were heavily camouflaged during their winter testing escapade, we can clearly see a lot of similarities between the iX3 and the traditional BMW X3, and the BMW i4 the current and new 3 Series, but with a sleeker profile.
As for the BMW iNEXT, it has quite a bit more camouflage and all BMW had to say about it was that it “combines the latest innovations in the areas of design, automated driving, connectivity, electrification and services (D+ACES) defined by the NUMBER ONE > NEXT corporate strategy”.
BMW i4 To Have Over 600 Kilometers Of Range
The BMW i4 is described as a four-door coupe and is expected to deliver over 600 kilometers of range from a fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. BMW also says the i4 will reach 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds.
It’s expected to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2 when it arrives in 2021.
The BMW iX3 will go on sale next year with the same eDrive technology as the BMW i4. It will have over 400 kilometers of range and owners will be able to use DC charging stations for fast charging.
It will be an all-electric SUV, or as BMW calls it SAV for Sport Activity Vehicle. Essentially an electric BMW X3, it will compete with the likes of the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 e-tron, and Porsche Macan electric.
