These are the first official images of the prototype.
How this car is received may have an important impact on the brand’s future.
Maserati has just revealed pictures of its GranTurismo Prototype. Although this car’s overall shape and dimensions recall the previous generation of Maserati’s flagship performance grand touring coupe, this one will be all-electric.
One of the Maserati GranTurismo’s signature features has always been the sound of its V8 engines. In fact, although we don’t recall the exact words, the GranTurismo catchphrase went something like this until the car’s run was ended: “You might not see one often, but you’ll always recognize it by the sound it makes.” In other words, the Italian V8 made glorious noises.
That era is clearly behind us as the all-new Maserati GranTurismo will be fully electric. Details on the car are all but completely non-existent. If anything, we know that Maserati’s future under Stellantis is shaky. As reported recently, every brand under the recently-formed entity has a decade to prove itself.
Although the new MC20 has been well received, it will not generate volume. It will however create a buzz and draw attention towards the brand and its new models. The Grecale SUV will play a huge role in securing Maserati but it will be the new GranTurismo that will prove or not if the car company is future proof.
