It will tackle the likes of the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series estates.
As we know, wagons remain popular in Europe, but not in North America…
By all accounts, it will retain the services of the turbocharged V6 and AWD.
We have to hand it to Genesis: They’ve got guts. From the moment the company was created, Hyundai’s Genesis luxury brand has boldly taken on the German and Japanese automakers with impressive and award-winning SUVs and sedans. And now, Genesis is poised to take on station wagons with their shooting brake.
And not just any segment of wagons! They’re preparing a G70 Estate to take on the likes of the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Although no concrete details have been shared or leaked, odds are the G70 wagon will share the sedan’s powertrains including the powerful twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 with its 365 horsepower and 376 lb.-ft. of torque as well as AWD and an available limited-slip differential.
Based on one image, we can see the red calipers suggesting that Brembo brakes, performance tires, and, why not, the electronically controlled suspension will all be part of the package.
The story was shared by EVO which, as a “European” market, is privy to these superb station wagons. As we know, only the Audi A4 Allroad remains in North America. This is reason enough for Genesis not to send the Shooting Brake our way. The official line is: “Genesis can confirm that the upcoming G70 shooting brake model will not be offered in North America at this time.”
